Any ideas? Drop us a comment below if you have any ideas. It would be great if people from around the country were working together to try and predict what’s gonna be on this year’s paper.
If you looked back at past papers and see some patterns feel free to share your opinions and someone might agree with you.
Just looking back over the exam papers for the previous 4 to 5 years will give you a good idea of what is or isn’t coming up, unless of course the course has changed. Maybe your teacher has tried to analyse the past papers and try to help you create a study plan. If so don’t be afraid to share your tips. That’s what this site is for…
In subjects like maths or science it’s maybe easier to see patterns than say English for example but we’re sure that people have been able to focus on specific areas to study in the past and get good grades so why don’t you all work together and give it a try too!

In the Higher English papers I have noticed that it has been a while since W.B.Yeats came up. All of the others like Eavan Boland, Patrick Kavanagh and Derek Walcott have came up over the past few years. My teacher told us that there may be a possibilty of Yeats coming up in June. He also came up in the mocks so it really does look likely.

Boland and Kavanagh are rumoured to be coming up on the English Paper. I've heard Yeats too.
I'm counting on Newgrange for Art History, but the Bronze Age might also come up. Also Massaccio, Donatello, Uccello, Van Eyck, Da Vinci and the Post-Impressionists are predicted by my Art teacher.
Jack for the Ordinary Level Poem on the Higher Level Paper. OÃche Nollag na mBan for the other part.
1916 for History.

In Economics HL Oligopoly is next to come up but because its too obvious they are almost certain to mix it in with something else. I'd learn all the market structures except Imperfect as it came up last year.

Man, I hope Yeats comes up on English P2.
In Biology, protista never came up neither has protein synthesis, blood, lymph or ear. Ear came up in the mock, so maybe it comes up in the real thing. Genetics and ecology are definite.
In Home Ec, our teacher told us to go over vitamins, minerals and making a will. Its little but something.
In Geography, a continental/sub-continental region is always up, so is an irish landform. Language, religion and urban planning may come up, not sure.

My English teacher is one of the examiners that writes the exam papers and he has been hinting to us all year that Boland, Yeats and Longley are coming up in the poetry. He has also been hinting that moral blindness in Lear and literary genre are coming up too! Hope this helps?

For Lear we've been learning about how sight and blindness images are used to suggest spiritual insight or blindness and to see can mean to grow spiritually as a person…both of them grow and gain wisdom through losing their sanity and sight.. that's from some of the notes he gave us

Love as a redemptive force in King Lear is a big one to come-up… like its a huge part of the play and never been asked before… the journey of Lear as well! For history nobody has mentioned the treatment of the jews in Nazi Germany… has never came up before and my teacher has that down as our big 'banker' question!

On Accounting HL Papers, Tabs has a pattern.. its on for 2 years, skips a year, on 1 year, skip, 2 years, skip, 1 year, skip.. etc, this year is a skip!
Eng HL- Boland, Yeats, Literary Genre- most likely.
Maths HL- area in integration, factor theorem, possibly.
Biology HL- If u learn Unit 1(food, ecology, a bit of scientific method) and unit 2(Genetics, photosynthesis, respiration, enzymes) and answer them qs on the paper you will have 80% of your exam got

For homec I would study iron and eggs really well as they both have never come up! For question 5 I think something to do with the elderly will come up because they havent asked that in awhile, for question 1 I would say the pain thing to it will all be about protein and iron and the foods they will ask to evaluate will be meat products, also family resource managment will probably be question 4 and there will probably be a full question on the irish food industry!

Longley (2006) & Kavanagh (2004) & Eavan Boland (2005) havn't come up in a while, so I'm predicting those three.. Also Cultural Context and Literary Genre for Comparative, althought I'm praying to God The General Vision and Viewpoint make an appearance.
I was told Volcanoes will probably be asked in Geography due to what happened in Iceland. But, the paper was probably put together before all that jazz.

King Lear – Metaphorical blindness. Sibling rivalry, Lear as a tragic hero. Machiavellianism ( Severe Evilness) Edmund as a machiavellian character. Good vs evil. Pity and sympathy.
Comparative – Literary genre, general vision and view point.
( I have many tips from several teachers to do the 70 mark question not the split question)
Unseen poetry – use the SLITST formula and ALWAYS choose the PERSONAL RESPONSE QUESTION.
Symbolism (symbols in the poem you see and are suggested by the poet)
Language (what kind of language is the poet speaking in? formal/informal etc…)
Images (discuss the images if any within the poem)
Tone (Tone of the poem, this may also tie in with alliteration etc. use of pathetic falacy)
Sound or simile (similarities in the poem, also refer to the contrasts , universalise it with your own opinion to engage in the question)
Technique (the techniques used by the poet to express their own personal opinion and how it effects you and your judgement as a reader of the poem)
Write the formula SLITST down in your mind map so you are prepared and know what to do straight away, most of us will only have 10 minutes to this question anyway, time is an issue.
Then write short paragraphs on each heading and givce your personal opinion as well as universalising with the world of today as we know it.

The Fool wouldn't come up on his own, there's not enough to write about. Our teacher predicted poets last year and was spot on, that's what he gave this year. As regards the Fool I'd imagine you would maybe work him into a question on Lear's journey, and how The Fool served to interpret the events of the play, and always provide Lear with the truth, even if he doesn't realise it to begin with. Greetings dudes! Thank god about english i knew it was gonna be yeats and rich i answered rich and literary genre cause i didnt do gv and v in my school.
Geography : Irish primary and secondary and tertiary activities in regional geography i'd know them all just to be sure. so were talkin GDA (GREATER DUBLIN AREA) which is Dublin where mostly tertiary activities are, the BMW (BORDER MIDLAND AND WEST) where you have mostly primary like fishing and farming. I'd also draw an outline map of the GDA and BMW regions in a frame with your question, mark in the counties in each region just a quick map will get you 5-8 marks. if it's neat.
Mezzogiorno, paris basin and the sub-continental region which is India.
Irish landform comes up every year and even if it's non irish you can still do waterfall thats my plan, 3 diagrams of formation of waterfall, one page explanation then your example 28 out of 30 hopefully.
START with the ESSAY first or geoecology whatever you did in your school. I did culture and identity and i studied RACE , RELIGION AND LANGUAGE AS A CULTURAL INDICATOR. I have Ireland, California, Northern Ireland and then multi racial groups. Write it like an english essay but don't make it personal, lots of facts and SRPS even if you don't know anything you can pull off 50 out of 80 marks with the basic info from a revise wise. Dont forget the investigation is 20% too so don't panic too much.
European Union is to come up I hear too in a map to identify places etc..

Absolutely… you can get every single answer wrong and still pass… just write down everything step by step…
Don't worry about getting the right answer… we're trained to feel guilty about getting things wrong but maths is one of those subjects where there is a lot of marks going for attempting things.
Have a crack at everything and even if you don't have a clue write down the question and have a wild stab at it!

I don't go by pres or mocks, they're made by companies it's a business to them and money they have no relation to D.E.S or the actual papers. Just keep that in mind , some ppl get carried away sometimes like and think the pre is an indicator it's not, There's always mocks with questions on them that never come up, they're indepently made up.
My teacher is quite good tho and she knows her stuff , she predicted the eye last year and now she's telling us the ear yeno

for history HL in the “dictatorship and democracy in europe” section since the new course started there has always been a q on economic/social probs in britian/germany in the inter war years (jarrow march case study) ! im not saying a q on that topic will come up but something around it has always come up since the start of the new course (2004 i think… ??) so heres hoping that it will come up this year too!

essays on the economy and politicians people not having trust in them etc.. and i think there'll be something about problems with young people with regard to the head shops. It wont be that specific like but yeno what I mean. Other than that all they could possibly sneak in would be somethin on the environment seems how the earthquake in Haiti was on the geography HL paper. Natural disasters.
And internet problems with young people 'Na daoine oga ag gafa an t-idirlion' (young ppl addicted to the leaving cert) I'd use facebook as an exmple and u could blab on for a paragraph about something u read in the irish times about over half the irish population of young people are now addicted to facebook.

a report is tipped to come up in the ABQ so learn the structure of a report, skills of managers willl com up and prob manager skills and activites within the business! also learn a business plan for long question, i think it will come up, as for history, 1916 rising, eucharist congress! and wt cosagave! do u think sunningdale is certain to come up i hope so!!!!

rich never came up so on that count Fail adcock elliot kennelly and yeates came up the examiners dont see the papers till the morning of the exams and even if dey did den you could just have cost your teacher his job and we would have possibly had to resit the feckin thing like last year so you ma'am are a tool

Clare why are you telling everybody what is coming up in the exams … like we pay 7 grand to get a leg up on the leaving cert ! like why are you telling them … we are meant to tell anyone !! teachers can get in trouble ..the the government find out !!! why are you risking theirs jobs ???
