Like a lot of you, i was fully expecting Boland to show up on today’s paper two and for all those people with their eggs in Boland’s basket, you just got unlucky. Even the bookies had Boland down as one of the favorites to show up too. Anyway here’s what you guys are telling us on our facebook…

Everyone’s talking about today’s and tomorrow’s Leaving Cert English papers and there seems to be a lot of worrying going on about what’s coming up in the exams. Panic not! In the 2009 Leaving Certificate only 1.7% of all students taking the higher level leaving cert English examination failed, with over 70% of students achieving a grade C3 or higher.

As time draws nearer, it’s now less than a week to go, do you ever think of the leaving cert as a person? If so what would he/she look like?

Last year’s ordinary level english paper had a comprehension question based on Youtube. Candidates had to read an article and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of YouTube. The second question asked if the image accompanying the article was suitable. The public’s response to YouTube was the third part of the question. Obviously with comprehension you are presented with the article and you just need to show your understanding of it. However, if you had an idea of the sort of topic coming up you would have an advantage…

So there’s only 3 more days of school until the christmas holidays – a time to relax, chill out and not have to worry about getting assignments in the following day… or as teachers see it, a two week break to give us an obscene amount of work to do so we dont go getting ourselves into trouble!

It’s what every student dreams about – exams being postponed! But that’s exactly what is happening with english paper 2.

We’re all good at english – i mean for god’s sake, we’re fluent in the language. It bewilders me as to how people can fail english.
