Paddypower have some interesting novelty leaving cert bets such as a 6/1 shot of ‘blonde’ being the hair colour of the person with the highest points or 10/1 on the temperature to top 30 degrees at some stage during the leaving.
If you’re super smart and doing about 10 subjects, you could actually make some nice cash for yourself. All you have to do is get about 10 A1’s and you’re pretty much guaranteed a small fortune. You could make more too if you play your cards right…
For example, if you die your hair pink, you can get odds of 18/1 on pink being the hair colour of the brainiest leaving cert in the country.
If you’re from Carlow, Leitrim or Longford, you’re already 50/1 to be the county with the highest leaving cert points. The Dubs are favourite at 4/1.
Leaving Cert papers being leaked are 10/1. I’m sure if you were to throw a supervisor a few hundred quid to ‘accidentally’ leak a paper, they’d do it. Place a €500 bet at 10/1, net a cool €5k. Supervisor gets €2.5k, you get €2.5k. Everyone wins. Apart from other students of course, but screw them… this is your last year so you’ll probably never see them again anyway and they’ll just be jealous they never thought of it 🙂
So there are opportunities out there if you’re smart, even in these tough times. Perhaps the most interesting thing about these odds is that Boland, Kavanagh, Yeats & Longley are 7/4 favourites to come up in English poetry. Followed closely by Boland, Kavanagh, Keats & Longley at 2/1.
