Mise, ou Entre Moi (Can you tell I failed Irish and got a D in French first time ’round?).

“Hey guys. Cant wait to hear all about what ye think on 6th yr and everything. Loved the blogs last year, even tho I was in 5th yr. But this yr..I’ll be feeling ye’r pain :( lol”.

Shonagh my dear (apologies for not using a fada also, I have one over my o but my keyboard skills are so poor that I can’t find it),  why so down and bleak? I hope it’s only because of the chilling weather. Speaking as a repeat I can tell you that you can still enjoy the next six odd months, so none of that negativity!:) Last year I saw so many people enjoy themselves and find the right work/play balance, so don’t let anyone tell you that you should only be focused on the Leaving between now and June. Fun fun fun! Although there are the delusional fantasists who think they’re intelligent enough to get 570 points even though frankly they have no natural intelligence, and ultimately end up disappointed, but we’ll deal with them at a later date, our glass is half full today!;)

So why am I here? Well I found no balance last year. It was all play with me! Without damning myself too much, well, all I’ll say is Tramore beach is gorgeous in May, and The Hills as a television series is the best thing on television since a man broke free on The Late Late Show and called Pat Kenny a piece of shit! So yeah I think it’s fair to politely describe my effort last year as sweet F.A., politely. I gave myself the biology course to learn the night of June 10th, before falling asleep with the books at my bedside! I did pass the Honours Paper for the record. However I’m not proud of myself and this year the amount of work I’ve done compared to last year is incredible (pat on the back).

Six honours subjects  last year, with a fail in the Higher Irish paper, I’ve since dropped back wisely. It all resulted in just above average 310 points. While respectable I’m capable of much more. Much much more (I’m arrogant and pretentious).  In the same school as last year now, so the preferred term for me is a 7th year!:P There’s only three of us repeating and I’m lucky to have one of my best friends with me with his missus!:) So mix us in with a heap of sheer babies compared to us (Transition Year is optional in my school and I did it, so half the year are two years younger than me!) and I believe you have a tasty and unique situation! And that’s basically a (very) petit introduction to me, mental!

We’ll have as much fun as a naughty hedgehog in a balloon factory from now ’til the big L.C. so keep checking in!;) We’ll have happy times, inspiring you all to go out for the night. We’ll have serious times, leading you to hit the books for a long, arduous study graft. And we’ll have edgy times, where I’ll upset people even though I’ll be right, ’cause I always really am to be honest. Love or hate me, I always divide other people’s opinions.

So Shonagh again, I want as much positivity as a famous golfer at The Playboy Mansion, it’s all smiles from here!:) Since beginning this draft I’ve spent a handful of nights out with friends and I’ve still been able to do this running parralel to putting effort towards June. It can be done. Some things ARE more important than exams. (Of course it’s important that you don’t develop an addiction to alcohol or anything now, I’m not encouraging anything of the sorts! And none of you are to turn out as I did last year, no matter how many hilarious memories I now possess (and not one regret in between all them.))

Pleased to meet you.

  1. I’m in pretty much the same boat. 6th year this year has lost all the fun of 6th year last year, but I suppose that’s a good thing!

  2. Hey Rónan, thanks 4 the mention 🙂
I’l be sure to turn that frown upside down —>:)
Must be the christmas spirit lol
O and to get a fada yoo just press ctrl and alt and the letter yoo want all at the same time :)Happy Christmas

  3. Ah so we do have a repeat: epic! Sounds like your in the same boat as myself; a 7th year in a school where TY is optional. I never thought I’d feel old at nineteen XD

  4. I’m repeating too. This year is going by way too slow. Can’t complain though, just turned 17 so 1st year in College would be quite sh!t for me!

  5. Yeah- 7th year.. What happened? It happened.. and now we’re back for it again. Good luck with the blog. I read it now and then, last time. Beware of becoming the Irish Independent’s mood-o-meter for LCers everywhere. Now to go back to studying. laters

    1. The Irish Times were worse. They mis-quoted us last year just to fuel the panic and sell more newspapers. Journalists now number among actors and politicians on my list of professions for bastards.

  6. Thank you all..!:)

    Stay positive..!;)

And Monsieur X I don’t know of any repeatee’s parent who feels negatively about the whole thing, although I’m sure one or two exist..!!
