Study ASAP In 5th year or what the hell, lets just cram!

I dont know what everyone feels like now. But believe me i started studying day 1 in september. Will this benefit me? I guess time will tell.

Okay so i am new to this and i decided to join to help and give support. I know good notes and A1’s are hard to come by. I guessed this to be an extra help as well as something to share and pass my time.(no i am not a waster)

I am here to help with whatever knowledge i have, and Β to take you through my experience of the leaving cert. I am aiming for medicine and no matter what i believe with a good head on your shoulders you can achieve anything.

Looking at papers is very daunting and the range of topics to cover, but it is best to find you own time to blog, work, relax or even sleep, just to get in the mood to do something productive.

Does anyone have a problem with retaining information? and also does anyone have help to give like French notes?

    1. hi, i believe everyone has their own goal and methods.. personally i dont ask questions in class i listen…. and i hate when others shout out constantly…and to be honest when some thing they are nearly smarter than the teacher… time is money…so id advise to start asap… (do takebreaks) i dont do anthing extra but i do have a part-time job so that helps me… Im here to help with any subject you feel run down by… im also in 5th year…and just to let you know english is my worst subject…email me!

    2. thank you very much! I do french, english, business, chemistry, biology, and maths. If you have any info or good books i should buy, please let me know, At the moment i’n finding chemistry very very hard.
thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it πŸ™‚

  2. Retaining information, no problem. Retaining maths is another matter entirely… I’m fifth year too, looking to do medicine also πŸ™‚

    1. yes, i found out that i was wasting my time with how i used to do notes to learn, i was literally re-writing what was in the book lol… no wonder i couldn’t learn.. i would like to know whats the most effecient way of writing notes, which will make studying much easier
      thanks for the help πŸ™‚

    2. Everyone learns differently, but I swear by mind maps. Between those and just summarising a chapter/topic until I know the basics. When you understand the concept, everything is way easier to elaborate on and explain.
I’d recommend a book called Exam Edge for chemistry; it’s pink and black, and it’s got exam questions and sample answers to them on every chapter, little tips and hints throughout as well. It’s my bible! πŸ™‚

  4. Hello! I was randomly looking through this site and I saw your post and I think your situation is really similar to my own.
I’m going into 5th year and I have also decided to take on French as an extra subject outside of school. I’ve never heard of anyone else taking on French as an extra subject so I have no one to help or advise me about whether or not this is even possible!
I’m very driven and I want to study International Commerce in college. I used Transition Year as an opportunity to learn French for the first time ( I studied Spanish in the Junior Cert cycle). None of my friends can understand why I would bother learning another language and they are constantly reminding me of how much pressure I’ll be under studying 7 subjects, let alone 8!
Until recently I have brushed off their comments as I have confidence in my abilities and my work ethic. However now that 5th year is looming I’m really starting to worry that I may have taken on too much. The most important thing, I think, is getting the points I need.
Obviously I realize that you probably sat the Leaving Cert ages ago and you most likely never go on this site anymore but I thought I may as well give it a try. So if you have any advice about managing French as an extra subject I’d be delighted to hear it πŸ™‚
