Words Following a Night (Two Nights) on Truth Syrup.

I’ll be blunt and to the point. I hit nineteen Easter Sunday and I’m still supporting a hangover that would put David Hasslehoff into a strop. Saying that I wasn’t complaining when free pints were being offered. Now however I can offer few words in relation to The Leaving Cert. Even though I’m saying nothing that should be new to people.

Regardless of whether you’ve been doing sweet fuck all, or whether you’ve digested books like Dawn French eats Terry’s Chocolate Orange Easter Eggs, we’re now at the business end of things. Get competitive. Get serious. Obviously not over the top now, keep your life, don’t become a recluse, shun friend’s sessions, or any session for that matter! But the fact is that you’re going nowhere and you’re going there fast by putting study in the backseat of the car. Make it a priority and even at this late stage I guarantee a decent result on the horizon.

Only two months left for people who’ve worked. Keep up the passion and determination and regardless of whether you get the course you want or not, you’ve done absolutely brilliantly, knowing that you’re pushed yourself and extracted every point you could’ve got from your exams. Keep cool, don’t stress out, at the end of the day what you get you get, c’est la vie. And without doubt if you’re working hard, you’ve saved yourself a lot of hassle from now until the tension filled pressure cooker environment that shows up it’s brutal face every June.

People who’ve done absolutely nothing, shame on you! Of course I’m joking with you, but get your act together now. Otherwise only a select few will achieve anything significant, with the rest failing to live up to their potential. If people take a second and think about it, The Leaving can be broken down into certain topics which always come up. History, biology, English to a degree, most subjects don’t require you to learn all the data inside the textbooks. Learn the dead certs to come up in detail (this itself is a massive help), learn the important verbs or grammar rules, learn the basics, and that’s a solid enough base to work with. After that everything will earn another five points here, another five points there, and all of a sudden you’re achieving a respectable points tally.I’ve seen people do it.

The last few weeks should be incredibly exciting. Rape them for all the goods they can possess. Both educationally and socially. Personally my school has Sports Day, Muck Up Day, preparation for Graduation, school photos, and more. Have a laugh during the day, but don’t let it affect your work in the evening. The things you learn now will stick in the head, the fun you have will boost your energy levels like gallons of Red Bull would. And the fun doesn’t damage the heart. Use the positive energy to make you study.

I should really stop now because I haven’t a clue what I’m saying and I’m not bothered reading back over it! I’ll be 100% sober when writing in the future! And you can say “sure why don’t you wait until tomorrow to type”, but I plan on doing some work, watching The Champion’s League, and then going to the pub in a celebratory mood after Arsenal beat Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou.;) In that case I’ll be in a worse condition tomorrow morning. Or in an even better scenario, if  my 100/1 bet that the result’ll be a 3-3 draw is a successful one, then I’ll go out the next night too. And from there I just get lazy, “forgetting” to put forward a post each day!

Enjoy life and study.:)
