check it outttt – it’s snow joke!

(I decided against a Beastie Boys reference in the title (too many “ch”s) and went instead for The Checkout Girls from “Sonny With A Chance”. Feeling cool right now.) http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/0108/breaking1.html

That news arrived up on my screen to a resounding “ewww” from all school-going persons in my house. My sister is concerned about the TY musical actually going into production. I am concerned that I won’t be in school til the mocks with all this carry on. Like seriously. When’s all this snow and ice going to stop? I mean it was cute at first, I made snowangels and attempted a snowman but now…now it’s just annoying.

I feel like a right nerd for saying this, but I’m booorrreeeed. A good lot of my friends all live on these treacherous country roads where the slightest frost has them housebound. I have most of my homework done. My mind is reeling from trying to study. So what I’m sorta kinda maybe trying to say here is: Can I go back to school please? Get out into society again instead of the seemingly endless days of rambling around the house talking to my cats, who really aren’t that well learned in the art of scintillating conversation.

Mmhm. I think I’ll be using my self-created “slowly going insane” tag from now on. It fits the general mood.

1. I feel your pain (with the snow and history). Some ice and snow and the whole country is almost at a stand still..
Our school is running study next wk from 10-1 and we had it this week too, so it isnt too bad. But we have missed soooo many days between strikes, parent teacher meetings, floods and now this..its not even funny anymore. Like seriouly, how do they expect us to be able to answer every question in the pre’s if we simply have’nt them done? I beginning to get worried about how long this ‘big freeze’ is gonna last.
p.s. are the roads around Ballina really bad? Just wondering cos my grandparents are leaving here (Cork) to head home to Mayo tomorrow. I heard the Foxford road is pretty bad.

2. I know, I know….I still have not gotten the results of my Christmas exams and waiting so much longer for them is not good. Oh joy.

3. Shonagh, I actually haven’t been very far from my house in days so I couldn’t tell you, but they aren’t great. Hope your grandparents get back OK.

HermioneHair! How cute is that name! Dawww 🙂 I got mine before Christmas, it’s kinda nice knowing what you have to work on. Do they not send them out in your school? They do in mine…I do empathise though. The wait is frightful.

4. No bother, they made it home in one piece lol
We had our christmas exams the second week of november…have you ever heard anything so ridiculous? But ya, I agree it is a good idea cos you know where you need to work in plenty of time before the pre’s. However at the time we were all like thats crazy we haven’t enough done, sure were barely back.
Oh is anyone watching ‘the school’ on rte?

5. I have been feeling the same way, actually. By the time we go back to school (if we do go back this thursday), we’ll have about two weeks until the mocks, and that’s not nearly enough to cover the rest of the syllabus for all the subjects. This sets us back quite a bit. Can I go back to school please? +1

6. I’m just trying to get past the title. How does one prolong a ‘t’ sound?

Yo
Check-a-check-check-check-a-check it out
What-wha-what-what-what’s it all about

7. My friend just text me to ask me to come over tomorrow to do some Maths with her.

*snorts with asthmatic, allergy-filled delight, steaming up my bottle-thick glasses*

It’s going to be my first time out of the house in days.
Needless to say, I can’t wait.
😉

8. I’ve just spent the past 5 minutes going “Check it outtttissh…Check outttitititii” and I have come to the conclusion that there is no way you can prolong a “t” sound. I have failed in title-making.

Let’s turn this turn this party outt (darn I’ve just done it again)

OMG Orla! Today I went for a walk! In the woods! Then we went to Tesco! I nearly died of excitement.
I hope you actually have bottle thick glasses, then I won’t feel too bad about my own 🙁

9. Well technically, I’ve been outside of my house, just… not very far 🙁

I do have glasses, reasonably thick, I’d say a good 7/8 on the nerd scale. I generally stick with lenses most of the time, even though I get woefully dry eyes and look like a crazed maniac with a over-productive thyroid gland with my bloodshot, bulging (and of course, sexy) eyes. 🙂

Us glasses peeps, we’re so cool.
<3

10. Yeah me too.

I’m disgustingly short-sighted, like -4.0. I only wear contacts when I’m going out/singing/hatin’ on my glasses. Thankfully I no get dry eyes, so wearing contacts is an enjoyable and prettifying experience pour moi 🙂

I know right?

11. -3.5 and -4.25 right here. Oh yeah baby 😉

I wish there was times on the post, this ‘just-the-date’ thing is annoying 🙁
Also I’ve just discovered the HTML. It’s lovely…
I guess you could say I’m feeling a little bold lately.
😉

12. Weiiiiird. Do you see this new like/dislike thing? It’s strange.

Yeah it’s hard to know when people commented and stuff…
HTML is something entirely new to me, so I don’t use it except to put my pikkyture into my posts.

Woo pun-tastic!

13. Hey. Been out of it for a while, sledding and stuff I must admit! 😀

Ah, thanks Valerie! I must say I was proud of my name too! I think the results are usually sent out before we get back but I’m repeating and I think with the euphemistically dubbed “seventh years” they just give them to you (or so I’m told at least! )

He he he….. puns rock! 😀

14. Valerie, the likedislike system was brought in to prevent spam or abusive comments as they are not moderated before being published. I’m also working on getting a time stamp into comments and allowing commentators to edit their own comments. The other new feature is the Twitter account!

15. Im seriously bruised from toboggining having spent the past 2 days bombing it down hills on pillows wrapped in black bin bags:).
But there is always the crash and burn…reality. 🙁
The fact that I received a text today saying we had school again tomorrow. Now dont get me wrong, I actually wabt to get back into the corridors of school but now Im panicing. I have 2 history essays, a comparative question in english, finish reading half of pride and prejudice and do another draft of my extended essay for my RSR.
It times like this I wish I had one of those stop clock thingees the Hermoine had in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azakaban.

16. Yep my school is back tomorrow too! I have all my homework done thankfully, I just finished the last of it today though. Good luck with your lot!

It’s times like these that I wish the Harry Potter world was real 🙁

1. Where’s Hermione Hair when you need her? 🙂
I’m back on Thursday now – flooded school or something.

All I’m sayin’ is… It wouldn’t happen in Hogwarts.
🙁

17. He he he……nice to see I’m missed! 😉

Ah, I know, I know….life would be easier with a magic wand which, luckly enough, I have! 😀 I got one for Christmas that you can sync up with your T.V to be a remote control….ok, it’s not exactly working yet but when it does there wil be wand waving galore! I haven’t tried syncing it with study yet……

1. I can just imagine how funny that would look once the novelty wears off, and you’re sitting there, casually flicking your wand to channel-surf the TV with a bored expression on your face.

Vicarus Channelius…

18. Mine’s made of plastic! (win) We’ve moved on a bit since Harry took his shit epilogue and perfect life and buggered off. Grr. I won’t speak again of the epilogue.

19. Ah, why so anti-epilogue? 🙁

Personally I am a big, big fan of it. He deserves a little happiness, not as much as Bella got in the Breaking Dawn but somewhat close! 😀

1. Yeah I’ll agree he does, but the stupid Ginny relationship that came out of nowhere (she’s second only to Bella Swan in Mary Sue-ness) and the shiny happy sickliness of it all got to me.

I’m sorry but I hate Twilight with all my heart and soul. I read the first one about 5 million years ago (before all the hubbub anyway) and I so wasn’t impressed, and as the years went by I just…arg.

2. Ginny was underdeveloped. I’ll give you that. But it was a kid’s book. What did you want, everyone dies except for Harry, who just manages to save the day, but is left so traumatised he gets addicted to crystal meth and overdoses in an alley? IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT, YOU CYNICAL BITCH!?

3. YES YES IT IS WHAT I WANT, GOD.

Can we change it to like coke or something please? Much more glamourous.

20. Ah, now. I guess I just have a rose tinted vision of life, I was hoping for one big happy Weasley family from about book three! 😀 And my wish came through so no complaining!

Ah, as did I. And, yes, I feel in love with the eternally cold and moody Mr.Cullen like every other teen girl (only about a year and a half earlier….) And then came the fourth book. Can hardly look at the books since….

1. Ah I thought I was the only one that freaked out at the ending of Harry Potter! Valerie, it freaking sucks!
