Chemistry

I’m in 5th year now and I’ve kept on chemistry but I’m finding it really hard to learn, does anybody have any study tips? I’ve been getting C’s in the tests when I know I can do much better, please help!

  1. It gets way easier. I’m in 6th year and when I started Chemistry I found it very overwhelming. If you keep memorizing the definitions and a few important equations you’ll be fine. I say them aloud and write them out until I know them. To be honest a lot of it is interconnected and the exam questions are really repetitive so you’ll find yourself knowing definitions and stuff off by-heart really quickly just by looking at past papers and practicing. I hope that helps!

  2. Advice,
dont onnly use your notes, read over the chapter , pick up some stuff your techer, may not have mentioned ,
    from the book
and Pray to God , to help ya understand whats going on,
im a 5th year too,i failed my first two test cuz i taught the teavhers note were all good learned my mistake, now i dont trust the teacher, i taje her notes look over the chapter, and pick up the important stuff she leaves out, hopefully ima get my A for the Christmas test good luck on chemistry anyway you aint the only one finfing it difficult ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. It does get easier! I wouldn’t worry about it too much, I’m in sixth year and found Chemistry last year horrible and didn’t understand a lot of it at all but the stuff in sixth year is more straight forward and easier to remember. I found making up worksheets for myself for each part we did really helpful so it’s a great thing to take out and look at to study! ๐Ÿ™‚ just keep at it and you’ll be fine ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi! I’m sure it will get easier. The act that you acknowledge that you are struggling and are willing to up your grades if definitely very helpful! Heres a link to a helpful chemistry page.. http://www.skoool.ie/examcentre_senior.asp?id=2083
Just take a half or even just a quarter of an hour every week night to revise what you did in class. Get a notebook to write down anything that needs to be known off by heart. This will come in extremely handy for exam time.
    Good luck with the chemistry,

  5. Hi Emma! ๐Ÿ™‚
Hope Chemistry has gotten marginally better for you but if it hasn’t don’t fret because it definitely will.. I tried so, so hard last year and I never really got over a C1/B3! Luckily I’m doing much better now but I honestly think that’s because in fifth year, chemistry is really difficult to grasp. The whole subject can seem a bit far-fetched and hard to relate to. Honestly it gets easier the more you learn, especially topics like organic chemistry and stoichiometry and so on. The basics you learn in the first few chapters are really relevant down the line, particularly in chapters like redox titrations and so on. Give it your best shot, and if you don’t have one of them lab workbooks then get a copy and write out all your experiments. It comes as a handy revision tool and the experiments are really, really important. I don’t know if anything I’ve said will help you but best of luck anyway!
PS. Chemistry isn’t a subject where you simply learn things off, you have to understand ๐Ÿ™‚
