i am currently in 3rd year doing junior cert this year, i had planned on getting into TY but didnt get in… suddenly have been told ive too make subject choices next week… careers teacher is no help and never in school, can someone explain what lcvp is? Thanks!
Hi LCVP leaving cert vocational programme, obviously you are in a vocational school, this is classed as an extra subject there is no 100 points available only a max 70 I think, it involves you doing a mini business along with a portfolio and exam, It is a bonus to get 70 in a distinction but they are rarely achieved, also note it is classed as one of your top 6 NOT added on to your top six, I dropped it to aim for b and a in better subjects! My advice only.
It’s like a business class only very very simple. I’m doing it and to be honest, it’s a doss. If I were you I’d do it because it’s like a safety net if things don’t go well and you need the 70 points. The portfolio is very simple and it can be interesting at times. Plus you’ll make a CV in class which is very handy when you’re looking for a summer job.
HIya! LCVP is a very practical subject it prepares you for different things and jobs in the future etc. you have 2 do 3-5 days work experience, do up a C.V. and possibly do an interview. i would recommend you do it the written exam is pretty easy more or less common sense, if you doing business for lc, defo do it! One thing its quite time consuming if you want 2 get 70 marks in it!
