Leaving Cert 2019 resulted in 395,117 grades given to 56,071 students. Over 16% of candidates (9,049) appealed 16,965 results. Out of the appeals made, 2,916 upgrades were made which means 17.2% of appeals were successful. Just 2 appeals resulted in downgrades. This is broadly in line with previous years and the takeaway is that if you appeal, you have a 1 in 5 chance of getting an upgrade.
