Music to your ears!

It’s a well known fact that music plays some sort of positive  role in developing our brains. How it effects us or why it effects us, we’ll probably never full understand but the simple fact we know that music can influence our brains makes music very important in our lives.

You’ll know certain music pumps you up. Certain songs will bring back memories… good and bad. Some songs will simply pass you by and you don’t even realise they’re playing…

Some people say they study better with music. I’m inclined to agree. In fact i’m writing this post now with my headphones on, in a college canteen. Music helps me to zone out and drown out the noise pollution. That allows me to focus 100% on writing.

When you think about it, 99.9% of noise is useless… the vast majority of it you don’t want. It’s no good to you and it’s simply wasting your brain’s processing power. With headphones on and your favorite music playing, you ‘want’ that sort of noise… your expect it, you like it…

So naturally, your ears will be much happier and maybe, just maybe, that allows your brain to focus on something because it doesn’t have to process the usual sound garbage it’s used to processing.

That’s my very scientific theory anyway, perhaps you agree / disagree? Do you find music helps you study or focus? Does it distract you? Do you have certain songs you listen to before exams or before big events to pump you up? We’d love to get your feedback on this!
