New Forums

We’ve just launched our new forum section on theleavingcert.com – forums.theleavingcert.com

It’s part two of our overall revamp strategy (part one being students.theleavingcert.com). Forums allow like minded people to discuss in public whatever they want. Up until now, all you could do was comment on a blog post like this one.

We think it’s important every leaving cert student in the country can voice their opinion, ask questions and get help, online. A question about an Emily Dickenson poem? Worried about making the right decisions on your cao application? Want to know how to fill out a UCAS application? Think Irish should be optional or banned all together? Don’t like this site?

This is why our forums exist. Ní neart go cur le chéile – strength is in unity. So the new forums are a place where anyone can sign up, create a topic and get something off their chest. Someone out there has the answers you’re looking for.

With these new forums, we’re hoping to connect you with that someone. So sign up, start chatting today and together, let’s build the finest leaving cert forum this country has ever seen 🙂

(note: all of our existing bloggers can log in with their login details for this site)

  1. Why don’t you interlink all the “theleavingcet.com” websites so that peolple know about both sites and it would be easy to navigate from one to the other?

    1. We’ll be doing that eventually… all of our sites will look the same and have the ‘site switcher’ feature up beside the logo (click on the arrows to see a drop down list of our sites).

For now, only students.theleavingcert.com and forums.theleavingcert.com are finished but we’re now working on theleavingcert.com (our main site). Once that’s finished they’ll all be nicely integrated…

We also plan on linking to all of our sites in the footer.

  2. btw the forum looks a hundred times better than any other forum I’ve seen before. And it looks like it could be really helpful. Organising by subject like that was a great idea. I just hope I’ll be able to study with all this stuff going on to distract me.

  3. It’s bbPress, Michael, which I’ve never seen before and, though I’ve come to prefer Invision to phpBB, I think it looks as nice as you say.

    ‘Bout time, Kevin!

  4. @eamonn, yeah it’s bbpress and we ended up running with it purely because everything else here is wordpress based (bbpress is run by wordpress owners)…

so it was easier for us to integrate but it’s also smaller & lighter than any alternative..

@michael2010, there’s plenty more stuff to come 😉
