OMG! Irish 2, French and History

OK, I know I’m a bit late to the party in regard to Irish Paper 2 but I will say it went swimmingly. The poetry questions were quite nice, except for the fact that the Nil Aon Ni codarsnacht question and the Faoiseamh A Gheobhadsa codarsnacht question were practically one and the same – what were they thinking? Anyway, it didn’t bother me one bit. With the pros I did the Cearrbhach Mac Caba question as we had done something similar in class a few weeks ago, and the Fiche Bliain Ag Fas Muris question (which was an absolute joke as far as I’m concerned, I think I was falling apart with fatigue by the time I got to it and my Irish went to shite – I do the paper back to front, btw.) The first An Triail question, though tricky to understand, was alright – at least it seemed to be at the time. Stair – the Bealtrial was perfect! All in all a nice, fair paper.

So now on to today’s exploits. French! How I love French. It’s one of my stronger subjects so I was really pushing the boat out for it, I learned subjunctive, strange unusual phrases, the lot. The paper didn’t disappoint – I really liked the emigration obligatory question, I basically put in about how “L’herbe est plus verte ailleurs” at the moment and how it seems to me like I will have to emigrate if I want a job…Boo hoo! 🙁 The journal intime was also really cute, and I got use out of all my usual phrases (“Tous mes projets sont tombes dans l’eau! C’est comme un cauchemar!”) I did the question about fashion being as important to boys as it is to girls, which went meh as far as actually discussing the question was concerened and good in relation to the actual French. Actually, any boys out there want to tell me – did ye do that question? I’d have been interested to read some of them…
The comprehensions were not ideal, but not terrible. There were a few little questions I couldn’t get at all, so I just stuck in what I thought it could be and left it at that. The aural on the other hand….I thought it was really difficult, there were some I was just guessing. Our supervisor, who also moonlights as a French teacher (who’da thunk it?) agreed with me, so at least I wasn’t just being silly!

History. As I have said before, History is a faux ami. As I waited with my one other history classmate to go into the exam, I thought my heart would burst with the terror of what might happen.
But my God, was that paper nice. I can honestly say that it couldn’t have gone any better. The Sunningdale document was just about the best document question there could have been…For the question about whether the documents were reliable etc I just rambled on about primary sources and eye-witness reports. Perfect!
Pursuit of Sovereignity: I did the Anglo-Irish relations question. I thought this wouldn’t come up because it’s come up in some shape or form for the past few years but there it was! Somehow halfway through my Dictatorship question (paper done backwards again, of course) I took a wild notion that the paper actually finished at half 4, so I absolutely zoomed through that and then zoomed on through the Sovereignity one as well. At half four no one said anything, so I copped on. Raging.
Dictatorship: I did the Church-State relations question. I liked it, except for the zooming through as mentioned above, which resulted in me doing my last two paragraphs in point form (better than leaving it completely, methinks.)
America: I did the Berlin/Korea/Cuba question and mentioned all 3, I can’t imagine you’d get much out of only one or two of them. Nice question too.
Towards the end of the time my writing was a complete joke, my hand was broke and the back of my neck was absolutely aching. I am absolutely ecstatic.ie that it’s finished though, and I can finally push away all that History that took over my life for so many months.

Good luck to everyone who’s doing Biology tomorrow! I’ve got Art History and I’m pretty well covered so not really worried. Tired tired tired…

  1. I did the fashion question in French, seeing as you’re interested I’ll give you an example of what I wrote… “when I go to Dublin or Galway I see boys wearing new shoes and new denims in big shops for fashion… It is unbelievabe that fashion is important for boys in Ireland but it is true”
Unfortunately I will be counting seeing as how I wrote a page on cosgrave and dev and had to make references in history such as ‘the Korean war which took place in (eh…) the early fifties’
Roll on pass DCG Friday… Nice half an hour of doodling!

  2. Aha! I think I wrote more about how fashion is important to everyone and then went on about how boys have more confidence these days with their fashion choices…something weird and totally not what boys do but y’know 🙂

Oh god that’s what I’m always terrified of, luckily I remembered most of the years but not months. Meh.

DCG? May I ask what that is? (Whatever it is, we don’t do it at my school.)

  3. @Valerie: Design, Communication and Graphics I think? New LC Tech Graphics course no sean? Lol I did that in Maths and must’ve looked like such a dope when I was sniggering to myself when, half an hour before the exam actually ended, I thought the supervisor was running over time…

@sean: Hahahahaha snap for that level of french… mine starts off well and quickly descends into a nightmarish soup of verbs and bad grammar, e.g. “In my opinion the sole weapon that we have against such a scourge to society can only be emmigration, especially these days. I like emmigration. Emmigration are good and shit for such people who enjoy to emmigrate to other countries. I have a job. I am hopefully not are going to emmigrate by next year.”

  4. Agree with your splendid evaluations of todays and yesterdays papers (bar history, I never took up that little ray of sunshine!:P)

Reading comps were tough to begin with but got a little easier with the second one.

The aural screwed me over big time. An ox, AN OX!

But that written section… B-A-utiful! 😀 Emmigration, spoiled party plans AND obesity! What more could you ask for! 😀

  5. Yea DCG is Design Communication Graphics, it’s been somewhat of a comic relief for me this year so I’m looking forward to heading home early and making a bacon sarnie and sitting in my garden, ahh!

Haha that French is brilliant though, a carbon copy of thousands of scripts around the country I’d say…

I could have made a serious mistake in history though, stuck for a paragraph on Hitler’s dealings with social problems I began one by saying “if one was a follower of Hitler or an advocate of Nazi policies the Jewish race would be considered somewhat of a social problem…. (info, info, info)…. A problem successfully dealt with from a Nazi point of view”
This could prove fatal if I get a corrected who is in any way sensitive, what do he think, am I a goner?

  6. Haha Mister X! I kept it awful personal, it was just me saying “Oh the economic crisis aww 400,00 chomeurs agghhh hope I can get a job.” Funny, looking back on it.

@Hermione: I totally didn’t get that bone question. I hated the listening. I really hope I didn’t do too badly on it. It’s making me sad thinking about it so I’ll stop. 🙂

@Sean: I don’t think you’re a goner…A very cleverly manipulated paragraph I must admit. Way to use the information you have to your own advantage!
Design Communication Graphics eh? We have none of that fancy designing lark where I come from 😀

    1. You don’t have DCG ’cause it’s a boy subject, and you’re lacking the correct androgens. Two other hormones, FSH and LH are produced in large amounts in puberty in the male body, with FSH stimulating sperm production in the testes, while LH stimulates the production of testosterone… which in turn.. eh, makes a man… manlier?

      …My Biology ‘s good, kinda. 😉

Don’t understand a lot of your post having had a day off today, but well done anyways and ‘g’loook’ tomorrow 😀
