Semi-Drunk. Makes no Sense. Let’s Call it Untitled.

The walls are closing in. And we must appreciate that in our hands is where our fate lies. Tune.;)  The cream rises to the top now. Thrive under pressure, think of it as you would sport, this is a competition. Experience tells me that those who work hardest now do better in the Leaving than those who don’t. That goes without saying I suppose, but I mean it in the sense that people who attend, listen, and really make the effort now achieve a higher state of delight an August than those who have been working, but take the foot of the pedal now. People who decide to give school a miss and “study at home”. My ring you will!

I don’t care if class is as boring as an orgy in a library it’s the best place for us at this stage. Last year I barely went, me and my friends preferred McDonald’s (by the way was anyone else petrified by Ronald McDonald when they were a child?) over maths or going home to shave instead of double Irish. French was nothing compared to a field in South Kilkenny. Several of us are repeating now, and it’s only our fault.

Go to class and listen, it’ll be stored in your head for June now. Don’t go to English and learn the 50 States of America amongst other things. Don’t try to predict the line-ups for The Champion’s League in biology. Pay attention. I’ve friends who did so and overtook friends who were solid workers for the year but when it mattered took the easy way out. Time for us yet, plenty of time to improve. Personally I’ve two weeks between the end of classes and The Big L.C.. Spend that time wisely, just block off the X-Box or whatever, play it for a couple of hours fair enough but don’t let it dominate time.

Last year we went to Tramore beach the day before English Paper One, when we could easily have looked over stuff for other subjects. During the exams I’d come home and watch Roland Garros for hours on TG4 to warm up for Wimbledon. Nothing wrong with that if the words for hours were extracted. This year the World Cup is on, I don’t even want to think about how I’ll balance that! But without doubt those who focus on what matters will wear the biggest smiles. As an ex-Vice-Principal used say to me you’ll get out what you put in come crunch-time.

Points are going up without doubt. Although I don’t want to sound old. Chances are things will only get harder. Greeks have spent all the country’s money on their over the top weddings. After doing the hard part in being the cradle of civilisation they now, in a spin-off way, make things harder for us since they couldn’t run their monetary affairs with an efficient degree of competence. The economy’s as frail as Amy Winehouse. Survival of the fittest over the next few years, nobody’s guaranteed a wonderful job. Those who remain calm and step up when it counts will thrive.

I’d do my exams tomorrow in a heartbeat. I hate school now, the seventh year is a killer! But a few classes or missed episodes of Desperate Housewives wont hurt in the grand scheme of things. I was out last night, in a country pub until about half three, but as long as I didn’t intoxicate myself to a state of Kerry Katona on This Morning I was always going to be able to work on some subjects today. Point being we shouldn’t panic or throw our life and friends out the window. Saying that I do have to sleep now, I’m not the best after it all. But yeah, it’s a race, I sure as hell want to do well, prove your doubters wrong, and as the Facebook page says, if I fail my exams, there’s always pole-dancing.:)

Ciao.
