Manflu, cold snaps and I still have school

Cold enough for ya? Normally I love cold snaps, I love the cold, and most of all, I love snow.  But now it’s a just a pain in the arse. There’s no snow first, just all this freezing cold, and our school still hasn’t been cancelled. Damn West of Ireland, we miss out on everything, mainly good roads and development, but also the best weather.

The mighty and dreaded manflu has also struck me, or at least that’s what I’m calling a very bad cold. My second pair of pants is now stuffed with Lidl tissue packets (I’m wearing two pairs of pants to cope with the weather, I went in on Monday with one pair of pants and one pair of socks and honestly, it took 2 hours before I could feel the lower half of my body again when I came home, the ENTIRE lower half) and Strepsils. The open day at Trinity was cancelled, which lead to some extreme drama altogether. Came out of school to travel to Dublin, rang admissions, said they were “deciding”. Deciding?! I want a YES or a NO damnit. So I had to make a choice of beginning the painstaking journey with manflu to Dublin or to stay at school. I chose the latter – thank God. Oh thank God. Does anyone know if it’s being rescheduled or what?

On the study front, our school seems adamant that the Christmas tests will go ahead next week. LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW! In fairness, I’m not *too* badly off, I’ve gotten a good bit of study done. It’s just one thing – German. Deutsch. The grammar is horrible, I hate it. I also hate the oral. In fact, I just don’t like it very much at all at all. I’ve also got a sick amount left to do in maths. AND I have load of other stuff to do this weekend. I’ll somehow have to whittle down all that time wasted sleeping and lollygagging (best word ever) on the internet down so I can fit in everything. Ugh, I’m actually looking forward to the New Year when I’m pretty much ditching everything I do outside school. Imagine having an entire weekend free to do nothing…that’d be class.

  1. Hey, I e-mailed them and they said, “I regret to advise that the open day will NOT be rescheduled . . . it was unavoidable.” So no, no more Trinity Open Day. Serious downer right there.

  2. Ugh…brilliant, just brilliant. When was the last year they cancelled their open day? Must’ve been ages ago, you’d know it’d be my luck but an LCer the year they don’t have one. I wasn’t reeeally going up so much for the medicine, but I need second choices and wanted to find out more about radiation therapy.

    Bummer…
