Amanda Hugginkiss

Today was a very important day. Today, we received a very special “legal document from the department, THE DEPARTMENT GIRLS” that listed out all our subjects and the levels at which we will be examined, and the point of it all is to check and make sure that everything is right as rain so we’re all set for the ezzamms. We were also told to check such things as our names and ages because, according to my principal, if your name is spelled wrong on that sheet it will follow you for the rest of your life! You will be “Valery Lotus” forever more! The temptation to put down “Seymore Butts” in the little change-of-name box was almost overwhelming. (I didn’t do it)

I am so tired though. Wrecked. All the time. And it hasn’t got so far into this whole LC thing that I’m allowed be in a bad mood all day every day, a door-slamming, exahale-and-roll-of-eyes type of mood, without someone calling me out on it. I’m looking forward to that. The freedom to grind your teeth and shoot dirty looks whenever and wherever you please! The snappy retorts! It’s like freedom to be my true horrible self.

Now that’s not true. I am a nice person really, and I only retort snappily when absolutely necessary ๐Ÿ˜‰

I took a look at our exam timetable the other day, of course Music is on the second last day and of course I’m going to have to remain under house arrest (of sorts) for a week while everyone else is living it up, footloose and fancy free. (Of course I have just discovered formatting. And yes, I just pulled a triple attack of bold, italics AND strikethrough on your sorry asses.)ย On the upside, I can concentrate on my set works for that week. Berlioz, Mozart, Deane and the Beatles. Deane is so totally wtf. I am the only one in the class who doesn’t squirm and grimace when my teacher tentatively suggests we might revise it, and that’s only because I’m amazed that someone would actually think to make music like that. Anyone who hasn’t heard it…the first few bars would give you an idea of the whole thing. Squeaks, squawks, Psycho-style saw violins…yurp. Fun fun.

Anyone doing anything fascinating/weird in their practicals? Unfortunately I was not blessed withย the patience requiredย to succeed at musical instruments,ย I have tried and failed at guitar and piano several times because I actually cannot grasp the concept of practice. It is horrible I know, but I expect to see results in everything instantly and when I don’t…I’m all “Kthnxbai.” So I’ll just be singing. Ughhh, singing. Quel ennui, I know.

You can tell I like this here blogging, can’t you?ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Is your last name actually ‘Lotus’? That is freaking badass. Man. I’d kill to have a name like that. It sounds like something I’d make up for a character, and then say “nah, nobody would believe there’s someone actually called ‘Valerie Lotus’ in real life.”

I’m going to have to steal your name, and cite you as proof that it exists. Unless that was a joke. In which case my hopes are dashed and I shall descend into a downward spiral of depression…

  2. Ammm…it’s not Lotus exactly, though it’s close enough. But I’m just going to pretend it is now, cos it sounds very cool. I might adopt it as a stage/pen name.
Oh don’t be so melodramatic. Gawd.

    1. There there. I expect you’ll get over it eventually.

Christ it’s awful quiet around here, like f’reals. Depressing.

  3. -Vociferously enters with a clamourous thud-
    I’m here!

    Studying for mocks.
Would rather be in a box.
    Sitting on rocks.
    Eating socks.

    <3 Rhyme.

  4. *stumbles in after, shatting a infintely expensive plate …and glass…..and the silence*

He he he……ah, I had a massive study day too! They’re not til the beginning of March but I figure if I wanna get everything studied before then… ๐Ÿ™

And, yes, this is the way I enter most rooms…

  5. *enters with grace and poise, picks a path through the destruction and takes a seat by the fireplace*
Yes, this post has a fireplace. Come sit, it’s warm.

Nice rhyming Orla, or should I say MC O-to-tha-rla? ๐Ÿ™‚

Yep I am also studying, I had aurals and a life drawing exam today and to my great surprise they weren’t awful. Yippee!
My “real” mocks start on Wednesday. I have my Art craftwork exam on Monday. Shits getting real. (I’m trying to limit my use of this phrase but it is ALWAYS relevant)

  6. Ah, I like the warmth too… *cuddles up on nice, soft ruf*

It IS getting real. I am now in the whole “planning” stage that comes one month before the mocks only it’s all a lie! February is such a damn short month that really it’s like three weeks.

    I’d better do something.

  7. “Ruf” is rug by the way. Just on case you think I have some weird fetish….. *shifts eyes suspiciously, followed by nervous laughter*

    1. Well, just Deane.
It sounds like he’s tweezing cute little kittens’ whiskers.

      What a bastard.

  8. An unintended oxymoron which is even better! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ah, music. I don’t do it but it sounds like that Seamus Heany poem on the Junior Cert about drowning kittens. “The Early Purges.” ๐Ÿ™

Scarred me for life. Every cat should be free to walk the earth and be cute and stuff.

I just had an Art Craftwork mock, I’m totally drained of all life and imagining everything made out of clay. It was very stressful. It also made me hate elephants.

  10. I know. Such a well written poem about the most henious, horrible thing. *sighs*

Oh, God. That exam always feels like it’s lasting years. I also hate sculpture so that would not help. ๐Ÿ™

    1. I don’t get that Art craftwork exam thing. Couple of hours to produce a piece? How the hell would the Sistine Chapel have gotten beyond stick men?!

  11. Yeah I don’t mind sculpture so bad but still…it’s no fun sitting in our drafty art room for 5 hours trying to make a piece of clay resemble an elephant. Haha Mister X! Believe it or not, you can produce a decent piece in a couple of hours with a bit of desperation, willpower and an iPod with full battery. ๐Ÿ™‚

I started my Ingerlish mocks today, Paper 1 was surprisingly lovely. Paper 2 I am concerned about, since I have to try and reproduce 10 pages of beautiful, beautiful notes (not counting King Lear.) Woo.

    1. I’m not going to give anything away but if it’s anything like our paper it’s a nice one. I know one poet thats on two mocks doing the rounds but I’m not going to give any hints, I doubt ya want them anyway! Seriously though, our Paper 2 was nice. A little too nice, I was expecting a rattlesnake to pop out on the last page or something .It wasn’t easy and timing was all over the gaff but there weren’t any trick questions. I hope ๐Ÿ™‚
