And here we…go

The two weeks since my last post naturally went by faster than lightning and now…now we have but 2 days left til showtime. It’s pretty scary, I must admit. I’m not stressing though. What it all comes down to in the end is that pink/blue piece of paper and the horrors/delights it reveals, and that is completely out of our power.

All the same, you can’t escape the sense of urgency and desperation in the air. My last Facebook status, a vague question about English Paper 2, attracted about 50 comments, all clamouring for some sort of reassurance: you’re going to be ok, I’m only doing 3 poets too, etc etc.
I’m really not in the right mindset to be writing a long post tonight, but I just wanted to wish everyone the very best best best of luck on Wednesday. I think I’m going to post after most exams, to air my concerns and/or triumphs (because despite the yearly pleas from teachers to push the exam straight out of your mind after completing it, the first thing you want to do is sit down and discuss it from start to finish…)
Again, the best of luck – we’re gonna rock this Leaving Cert thing.

  1. 🙂 its exciting thinking how close summer is and how we will never have to sit a single class in SCHOOL ever, but then again, there r some of us who will be repeating nxt year and its a bit of a bummer.

I just hope im not one of those unfortunate ones.

  2. Good luck Valerie! Keep us posted on how you’re getting on. You’re the only one who frequently blogs anyway so we’re relying on you 😉

  3. Yeah zzz, I tend to use the word “if” lately in reference to my future. Hopefully everything will go to plan.

Thanks Amy, that is so nice to hear! I’ll do my best.

  4. Good luck lads! And yeah valerie it’s true you’re the only regular blogger haha! Hope all goes well! P.s did you have to pay that fine you were dodging all the time? I’m sure you’ve neeeever gotten that before:P

  5. Why Mark, I have never eeeever gotten that before 😛
I commend you on using a different line to everyone else though, I usually get “WHY DONTCHA COME OVER OVER VAAAALLLERAAYY!!” I’m cool with it though, not everyone has a tolerable song with their name in it, especially a name as unusual-yet-not-unusual as Valerie!

Thanks! Paper 1 better be nice to us…

    1. I don’t have any song with my name in it 🙁
      Unless I make a few song-title-edits that is…

      “Whiskey in the Orla”
“I Will Always Love You (Orla)”
“Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Orla of Mine”
      “Knockin’ On Orla’s Door”

….Come to think of it, that first song title is catchy, will definitely play it come June 24th. Looking forward to it already 😉

      Best of luck everyone 😀

  6. Orla you are absolutely hilarious. “Whiskey In The Orla” is my favourite I think. Did you see yourself in the Irish Times today?? I saw me! My dad rang and I was all “WOOOWWW!” I’m so easily pleased 🙂
You kept me entertained too! Go us!!

  7. I did see me. And you. And everyone else. 🙂
Yeah, I made my mam get the Irish Times just to see it. And we’re not even a Times kinda family, we prefer to be cheapened by such brain-smushing papers such as the Daily Mail 😮
Our national newspaper debut, think it’s definitely one for the CV:
“Had an obscure quote about the LC mentioned in the Irish Times circa June 2010″
Our future employers won’t know what’s hit them 😉

  8. Aw now I think it’s a fair achievement. I wonder if they’ll print my top 10 tunes, it’s a fairly bland/unexciting/potentially mortifying list but it’d be a little dochas i measc na headochas go leir (a little bit of hope in all the hopelessness, if my rote learning of Irish notes serves me correctly.)
Boards.ie is exploding right now. People are so supportive, it’s way cute. 🙂
I’m gonna be a total creeper and add you on Facebook, (Whiskey in the) Orla, cos I’m a total creeper like that. 😉 😉
