Bless me Señor…..

*cough* ‘scuse me. I’ve a bad cough for some reason. It ain’t gonna get in the way of my posting this blog though!

Before I delve into what my week has been like, I just want to talk about something that I saw recently. As you will all no doubt be aware, the Junior Cert Results came out last Wednesday. For those who got them, this meant party party party for the next 24 hours! Which is understandable. We’ve all done crazy things on Results Night, and I’m not gonna be a whinge-bag and complain about it.

I will say this, though. I was strolling through the photos that someone took on their way to a disco. In at least half of the photos, there was someone with an alcoholic drink of some sort in their hand. What’s more, one of the photos showed a minor with a passport in his hand that belonged to his brother, which he no doubt used to buy said drink.

I’m saying nothing on the fact that minors got served – I don’t want to get Sean in trouble 🙂 – but a piece of advice for people: if ye do decide to go down that road, for God’s sake, don’t post the photos on a social networking site! Say that your profile was not on private – which the majority aren’t, despite measures implemented by Facebook to alert people. A future employer could just stroll onto your page and see you tagged in these photos looking absolutely out of it. Bye bye job, and bye bye money. Also, if you were friends with, say, your ma or your dad on Facebook. They could see the photos of you just as easily as you can. So yeah, be careful what you tag/post/upload.

Right, rant over, here’s the important happenings of my week in a nutshell.

It’s been 2 weeks since I started my DCG project, and to cut a long story short, it’s going like a snail on an anti-gravity pad: nowhere. I have searched everywhere for info to use, done numerous Google Searches and Wiki’s, but at the end of the day, it’s almost as if I’m back at square one. The thing is, there’s not enough information out there that would be suitable for use in the project. I don’t think even AllHonours has sufficient info! Now, I could be looking in the wrong place or typing the wrong keywords, so I’m using this time to ask for any help with sources of information. All those who help will get a free compliment in the next post! 🙂

But while DCG is going fairly slowly, it’s not as slow as my attempts to learn the Spanish Oral Role Plays. At the moment, I am studying Situation 2, A.K.A. The one with the Passport in it. And to put it bluntly, I am strugg-a-ling. It seems that the technique that I used to master last week’s Role Play, where I write out everything 5 times while pronouncing it and attempt to recite it after, is not working AT ALL this time round. I don’t know if it’s got anything to do with the length of our lines, or whether last time round was just a fluke. Either way, it doesn’t really matter, as I am not getting to grips with this at all. It reminds me of the two years of 2nd Level where I had to learn stuff off for Irish before I got the exemption. Those were some pretty dark days, and I’d rather leave them in the past. I am exploring other alternatives to help me learn the Role Plays off, but for the moment, all I can do is scream in agony as I fail to comprehend it.

I’m going to be tested on the Role Play tomorrow, so if you’ll excuse me, I’d better get back to *cough* Studying. 😉

TTYL.

Mr. B.

P.S. For anyone who wants to know, Muse were epic.

  1. Best place to look for ideas for DCG is at your school. They might have kept copies of last years projects. And the technology subjects support website is pretty good.

    1. Thanks for the tip! Really appreciated. Forgot your name when I was writing the current blog but thank you anyway!

  2. How much have you done for your DCG project? I’ve only completed a draft of one page, and I think it’s pretty hard to find info too. Then again I try to avoid wikipedia as everyone will be using it and I don’t think it’s that reliable. :O

PS Glad you enjoyed Muse, they’re pretty high on my list of bands to see. I’ve heard they’re absolutely amazing live.

    1. As of this morning I have the basic plan for Part A done, and Output 1 completed. And yes, I know too well how unreliable Wiki is – my brother edits it all the time!

  3. yeah the roleplays are awful to learn but theyre guaranteed marks.wait til you get to roleplay 4 and 5 😉
