what? i’ve got exams?!

Not long to go now. This is the time of year when pressure is applied from all angles. Media start hyping it up, exam guides start coming up in numbers, teachers start last minute cramming classes, old students like me will tell you that the only way to success is working 24/7 and revising your own personal collection of carefully constructed notes put together since 3rd year 🙄

It’s all a load of rubbish really. The reality is, you’re under pressure to pass and get x amount of points – whatever it is you ‘need’ to get your college spot. If you’re not going to college, happy days, the pressure is off.

Ignore newspapers and exam guides – just study past papers. It’s the quickest way to gain the maximum amount of knowledge. If you’re in any sort of a decent school, you’ll know this anyway.

Look at the marks going for each question. Allocate your time accordingly. Look at the structure of the paper, get used to the wording of questions. Look up words like ‘explain’, ‘analyse’, ‘elaborate’ etc… define them for yourself.

There’s loads of time to study yet… there’s still loads of time at 6pm the evening before an exam. Don’t feel under pressure to learn or study. If you feel under presure, you’ll be so consumed by the pressure, nothing will stay in that head of yours. Chill, relax.

No point in studying if you can’t learn something new…
